shows on the televizzle

I love TV. I do. Which is why I'm an idiot for probably giving up cable in 6 months. But that's another story.

I really don't watch that much TV. Usually after a long, mind numbing day at work, then a workout, then after cooking dinner, we sit on the couch and watch something good. Not because we're disgusting heathens who eat on the couch, but because our apartment is literally too small for the smallest of tables. Which forces us to be disgusting heathens who eat on the couch. But that is neither here nor there.

Anyway, if I watch TV, I want it to be good TV. These are my all time favorite shows at the moment. Keep in mind that my favorite shows are pretty much based on what's on TV at the moment. For example, if Flipping Out was on Bravo right now, that would make this list. Because how hilarious is Jeff Lewis?

1. Duck Dynasty. I know they're technically between seasons right now, but reruns are on all the time. And I haven't seen every episode, so I keep forgetting they're reruns. But seriously, this is THE. FUNNIEST. SHOW. EVER. This family is unbelievable. Every single thing that comes out of everyone's mouths has me doubled over. Especially Uncle Si and Jase. I thought my neighbors were going to call the cops on me last night due to the howling I was doing while watching this.

2. Downton Abbey. It's got accents! Romance! Mystery! Adventure! Hilarity! Tragedy! Seriously...Downton Abbey has made the Sunday Blues a thing of the past. 9:00 Sunday night is my favorite time of the week. Even James is hooked! And I am still obsessed over Sybil and Branson. I love it. And Matthew and Mary. And obviously the Dowager Countess. Her facial expressions might actually be funnier than her amazing wit.

3. Parks & Rec. Every episode seems to get funnier and funner. And Ron Swanson. That is all. Oh, and Tammy! I love that she's his wife in real life. It makes it so much better. Aaaaaand NEW EPISODE TONIGHT. It's been a month at least. *inhale. exhale. inhale. exhale*

4. The Office. I will need some sort of therapy at the end of this season, since it's the last. And I realize these are all gifs of Michael Scott, and he is no longer on the show. But these gave me a massive case of the giggles this morning. Plus, James and I are rewatching the whole series for the 3rd time.

4. Parenthood. This show pulled me in, though I have a lot of mixed emotions on some things. And you're going to just get a picture instead of a gif, because I imagine the only gif I would be able to find would be of someone sobbing. Also, this show makes me NEVER want to have children. Oh, and what do we think of Ray Romano's character? It's weird to see him in such a brooding role, and he does it so darn well. But still. I love Mark. Come on, Lorelai Sarah!

Do you guys watch any of these shows? I know they're nothing earth shattering. But they're so good. What are you watching?

Next on my list to get sucked into is Portlandia. Angi sent me some hilarious clips, so I think it's time. Oh, and I need to catch up on How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. Those two are all time favorites.

  2. completely agree about parenthood! I love mark..it's so hard for me to watch her scenes anymore, especially ones with ray in them! I think I've gone through a few boxes of tissues this season.

  3. SI!! He's my favorite. And I know we're on the same page when it comes to the rest of the guys. If only they didn't have those beards...

Have you ever watched Impractical Jokers? I told Angi about it a couple days ago. It's on TruTV, and the new episodes are on Thursday nights (so tonight!) ...I LOVE IT.

I'm also really into Nashville on ABC. But that might be the country bumpkin in me...

  4. Downton Abbey... I mean really how can someone not love this show.
Parenthood... A. I keep thinking Lorilei too... B. very few time I have watched this show and NOT cried. I am not a crier. C. I kinda love the acting, its different... kinda refreshing.

ALSO, I have a a kitchen table large enough for real people to eat at and we rarely do... don't feel bad. I figure I can not yell at my future kids about eating in front of the TV with out the glaring hypocrisy.

Happy Thursday aka Parks and Rec day!

  6. I always call Sarah Loralie! Always. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Gilmore Girls is over. Yes, it has been five years and I should be over it, but I am not.

  7. We don't have a dining room table so eat on the couch every day. Gross huh? But so comfy!!
oh and I pretty much live in a world like Downton Abbey. Yes, yes, I am that posh!!!

  8. OH MY GOSH MICHELLE + TELEVISION= EVERYTHING I LOVE IN LIFE

    1. I haven't watched Duck Dynasty but my brother does-- and I always know when he's watching it because I can hear him CACKLING in the living room. I'll have to tune in next time!
    2. Downton Abbey.. again, never watched, and I feel like the only person in the world who hasn't! I actually thought it was called DownTOWN Abbey for a long time. I gotta work on my reading comprehension.
    3. PARKS <3 <3 the greatest. That dancing Ron Swanson gif plays on a loop inside of my brain at all times. I love him so much. And Jean Ralphio, OF COURSE.
    4. THE OFFICE UGHHHH my all-time favorite. Nothing makes me happier than the early seasons of the show with crazy Michael antics. I keep watching that GIF of him body-slamming Toby while ice skating. LITERALLY THE MOST HILARIOUS EVER. Last night I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe while watching the episode where Jim and Dwight have a fake customer service call and it ends in Dwight screaming "BUTTLICKER! OUR PRICES HAVE NEVER BEEN LOWER!"
    5. PARENTHOOD RUINS ME, as I told you. I never make it thought an episode of that without crying at least once (five times). I mostly cry because of how dreamy Adam Braverman is.

    1. I TOTALLY THOUGHT IT WAS DOWNTOWN ABBEY UNTIL THIS SECOND.

I'm never watching it. I'm going to boycott that name.

    2. OMG! You're not the only one, Kelsey! I always read DownTOWN too...so much so that I didn't even notice it until I saw your comment! Haha

  9. We gave up cable a year ago, but still watch TONS of TV on Netflix Instant Play. Sure, we're behind a season, but it doesn't really matter in the long run.

I love Ron Swanson. I love the Dowager Countess. I love The Office. Ahhh!

  10. I just finished my 4th time through the Office.
    Everytime Michaels leaves, I bawl.
and same with Jim and Pam's wedding. Ugly Cry.

How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family and the Bachelor/ette are the only other shows I go out of my way to watch. Just because I don't have television at all. So it's either Netflix, Hulu or (il)legal downloading.

  11. I don't watch any of them, I would say it's because I am in the UK and we only get Downton Abbey but that isn't a very good argument seen as all the tv I watch is American and comes from online. The ones I am watching at the moment are Greys Anatomy, Private practice, Rizzoli and Isles, Criminal Minds and Bunheads and I'm looking forward to Smash starting again next month. I'm seriously considering starting to watch Downton Abbey though.

  12. I love The Office! While I haven't seen any of the current season I'm anxiously awaiting it to be available on netflix.(We've never had cable so hulu and netflix are our only sources of tv) Which will be quite a wait, but oh well.

Oh Downton Abby!!!! I just love it! I've been contemplating getting the season pass on iTunes so that I can watch the current season. I think I'm just going to try and hold out until it's on DVD. We'll see if my self-control can hold out that long.

  13. ALL OF THESE!!! Well, except Duck Dynasty. I've only ever seen part of one episode. It was entertaining, but not hilarious. I'm sure it would be more hilarious if I could actually watch more than 20 minutes of it. ;)

    Downton...Parks and Rec...The Office...LOVE. As you know.

Parenthood........TOTAL mixed feelings. I like the show, I like a lot of things about the show, but I'm just going to say it - I think they're all ridiculously crappy parents. Beyond ridiculously. OK, I feel better now.

    And yes. WATCH PORTLANDIA!!!!

  14. My husband and I LOVE the office. Although, we have pretended that the series finally is the episode when Michael leaves the office. We watched the rest of that season and were just so turned off the show. The Office without Steve Carell is just....depressing. So we just watch our dvds of it all the time! :)

  15. I should not have read this. You know why? BECAUSE I AM BEHIND ON DOWNTON. But I kind of figure that would happen. Sybil is my faves.

You can do the no cable thing! Is it permanent? Are you taking a break? We survived with Netflix and Amazon, but we also had a lot of series and stuff to get caught up on. You'd be amazed at how many good books you can read without cable :) Just wait until Mad Men is done, k? Thanks bye.

  16. We gave up cable cold turkey at the start of the month. Between school, work, internets, and wedding planning, I don't think we'll have a lot of time to miss it, but we've talked about working our way through shows starting with season one if we need the mindlesness. We've been meaning to start How I Met Your Mother, and just have never gotten around to it. Also, Ammon has never seen Arrested Development, which worries me.

  17. I adore television.. but honestly, I watch a bunch of garbage some days. Do you have Netflix? Look at Workaholics and tell me you do not wish in some way that your work day was like theres. Seriously, do it. hahahh I love Parenthood and also have some mixed feelings on things. I really am loving Ray's character.. he is good, indeed. I tried getting into Downton but Aaron was being all weird while I tried to watch them, so I am thinking I need to give it another whirl. I go in and out of seasons for shows, like, one day I am in LOVE with Madmen and the next I just want to watch trash... haha I JUST LOVE TV!!!!!!!!!!!!
    also- love you.

  18. I do love me some TV. I could go on and on about my faves but, honestly, Downton Abbey is my favorite at the moment. My hubby got the whole season from the UK so we've already finished this season. OMG! So Good!!

  19. I watch all of these but Downtown Abbey. I've heard good things, but have no idea what it's even about. I think I'll save it for a snowy day and do a marathon. I did that with Shameless and Breaking Bad and they were the best days of my life. That's kinda sad now that I write it.

  20. I love love love Duck Dynasty. I agree with you...every single person is soo funny! I'd love to meet that family!

  21. Yesyesyesyesyes to Parks & Rec!! That’s my all time favorite show. I’ve never given Downtown Abbey a go, though I’ve obviously heard like a million amazing things about it haha. For me I’d also add Modern Family, Girls (on HBO), Game of Thrones, and then my guilty pleasure: Hart of Dixie. It’s kinda fluffy and cliché, but it’s just so darn cute

  22. ok, Duck Dynasty? Hate. Loathe. Can't stand how people are obsessed with it. (But I love you, nonetheless!). The office, always good. Always laughs. :) Especially the scene when Toby retuns. "No! God, please, No!" Makes me laugh every time!!!

  23. I got so excited when I read your post at lunch today, because I didn't realize that Parks & Rec is finally new tonight! Honestly, it's become my new favorite show and I just can't get enough.

  24. I've never seen Downton. I feel like I am losing my cool card. I am, however, SUPER excited that Parks and Rec is on at 8:30. I also love Tammy Two. And it is so hard for me to not call Sarah by her real name: Lorelai. I do love me some Parenthood.

  25. Ahh Downton Abbey! I love this show so much and can't believe that Edith got gilted at the alter. Seriously sad and shocked. I'm glad that Mathew finally got over himself and gave the money to save Downton Abbey.

  26. We just started watching Parks and Rec. It never really hooked me, but then I watched clips of Ron Swanson eating and I fell. I fell hard. He goes to strip clubs for free buffets. Awesome!

  27. I think I need to watch Duck Dynasty.. I have never even heard of it.

I stopped watching The Office when Michael left. It's NOT THE SAME MICHELLE.. i don't know why I'm yelling at you.

I had no idea you watched Parenthood. You do not love Mark. You do not. Please never ever say that again. I think that show makes me cry every single week. We could discuss this for days. couldn't we? Now that the season is almost over.. great. and by great I mean "stupid."
