gracie says, vol. 2

Volume 1 here

Once again, these are probably funny only to me. But this the only way I remember to record her funny comments. She keeps us laughing all day long.

There's a thunderstorm outside. Lightning strikes right out front accompanied by some deafening thunder.
G: "What's that?"
Me: "It's thunder."
G: "No, it was just my tummy."

G: "Where's heaven?"
Me: "No one knows for sure where it is, but I think it's way up in the sky where we can't see it."
G: "We need a superhero to get up there! And a rocket ship! Mama, where's our rocket ship? Is it in the garage?"

Gracie suddenly starts crying while looking out the window.
Me: "What's wrong?"
G, pointing to the tree in the front yard: "Daddy's phone! It's up in the tree and I can't reach it!"

Gracie, putting the wipe I use to clean my glasses on top of a carton of blueberries, as if to put them to bed: "The blueberries are so tired today. They need to take a nap."

Me: "Just a few more minutes and then it's quiet time, G."
Gracie, sitting in her doll stroller, propelling herself toward the front door: "Sorry mama, I can't nap today. I have to go work. See you later, bye!"

Gracie, poking at my eyes while I rocked her.
Me: "Why are you doing that?"
G: "Oh, I'm just making some bows for your eyes!"
She then starts fiddling with my nose.
Me: "Now what are you doing?"
Gracie: "I'm knitting you a nose, mama!"

Gracie lines up her alphabet magnets on the fridge and points to them: "Look, mama! This is my family now."

G throws an old burp cloth she found on her back and puts a hat on: "Look, mama! I'm the king of Israel!"

At the park, we hear a loud, screeching sound.
Gracie: Mama, is that an elephant?"
Me: "It sounded like one, but no. That was just a loud noise."
Gracie: "Yeah, it wasn't an elephant. It was a hippo."

  1. ahhh - I think these are so cute. The way a kids mind works - & imagination.
Except my stomach probably sounds like thunder sometimes too.

  2. I think my favorite is the fact that she is the King of Israel LOL. Like what two year old even knows of Israel?! 😂

    1. Hahaha! Not to make my kid sound all holy and whatnot (because TRUST ME she is not 😂), but she’s been obsessed with the story of David and Goliath lately (“Goliath is bad, mommy. He’s so bad.”). There are old school 80s videos on YouTube that correspond with a children’s bible she has, and she watches videos on the Old Testament a lot. So that’s why she knows about Israel.

  3. I’m with Joellen - the king of Israel one is my favorite. Though I am impressed that she is so concerned about James’ phone being up in a tree...such empathy at such a young age! 😂

  8. I love the going to work one. For Valentine's Day I asked my 3-year-old a bunch of questions about his dad and when I asked what Daddy likes to do he answered, "Go to work." When I asked what he does at his job, the 3-year-old said, "He works." In other words, he has no idea.
